EHR Work Bench - Clinical Tasking Inbox

This Quick Reference Guide provides the steps required to Create, Accept, and Reply to Clinical Task from the EHR Work Bench.

Sending New Tasks

To send a new tasks, click the New button at the bottom of the Task Preview window.

Complete the following fields:

  1. Subject - Enter a subject that describes the purpose of the task.
  2. To - Click to access the Tasks Recipients window then select recipient(s) that will receive the task.
  3. Due Date - Click the drop down arrow to select the desired completion date for the task.
  4. Priority - Select the priority of the task by clicking the drop down arrow. Options are High, Low, and Normal.
  5. Categories - Click the drop down arrow to select all Categories that apply to task.
  6. Details - Enter the details for the task.
  7. Re: Patient - Click the Norton button to access the patient look up screen.
  8. Send Task - Click this button to send task to selected recipient(s).

Note that the Undo button cancels the task as long as it is selected before sending the task.

Accepting Tasks

To Accept tasks received in the Clinical Tasking Inbox:

  1. Select the desired task from the Inbox.
  2. Click the Accept button to take ownership of the task.

Accept And Chart / Accept And Complete

Users have two additional options when clicking the drop down arrow on the Accept button:

  • And Chart - Allows the user to take ownership and access the patient's chart at the same time.
  • And Complete - Allows the user to take ownership and mark the task as being completed.

Replying to Tasks

To reply to the sender of the task, click the Reply button at the bottom of the Task Preview window.

Enter a response in the Details field, then click Send Task.

Note that users can also edit any of the available fields within the Task Preview window when replying to the sender. Also keep in mind that the Undo button cancels the task if selected before sending the task.

Additional Options

Here are a few other options available when reviewing task in the Clinical Tasking Inbox:

  • Complete - Marks the selected task as being completed.
  • Remove - Deletes selected task in Inbox
  • Reassign - Reassigns task to selected recipients.
  • Chart - Opens patient's chart if attached to selected task.
  • Orders - Opens Orders Module to view patient lab results in addition to opening the patient's chart.
