This Quick Reference Guide is designed to help identify potential reasons, and resolutions to the This Template is locked for update alert. Here are the most common reasons for receiving this alert:
- An issue with Template note fields.
- An unexpected situation prevented the system from releasing the lock on the template the last time it was saved in the patient's chart.
The alert message is designed to avoid accidental overwriting of patient data. To unlock the template and move past this alert:
- Choose No to the prompt: Do you want to try to save again?
- Answer Yes to the prompt: Do you want to clear the update lock?
Template locks are per patient - that is, if Intake MG is locked for John Doe, it is NOT necessarily locked for Mary Smith.
