Acknowledging Duplicate Medications on Medication Module

The Medication Module has been enhanced with a feature to notify users when a patient is being prescribed a duplicate medication, this applies to both Brand and Generic name medications.

This Quick Reference Guide assumes that the user has a basic understanding as to how to access the Medications Module in EHR.

Accessing the Medication Search Window

To access the Medication Search window from the Medications Module:

  • Click Prescribe New

In the Medication Search window:

  1. Type a description of the Medication in the Find field.
  2. Select desired Medication by double-clicking desired strength/dose.

Acknowledging the Duplicate Medication alert

If a duplicate is found, the Drug Interaction window will alert the User that the medication being prescribed is a Duplicate Medication. To Acknowledge the Interaction warning:

  1. Select a reason from the drop down menu (If Available).
  2. OR Free text reason in large text field
  3. Click Acknowledge
  4. Click Done

A reason is not required in order to Acknowledge Duplicate Medication interaction warnings, but is an option if you want to document the reason.
