Statin in Patients w/ CV Disease (SPC Alert)

This alert was created to help providers consider prescribing a moderate to high intensity statin OR add a diagnosis code for exclusion. This alert only applies to patients who are due for the SPC quality measure.

  • Note - Patient need only one fill during the calendar year. 
    • To meet the measure, the frequency can be once a week with a moderate to high intensity statin.
       
  • Alert will appear once an ASCVD diagnosis is coded. 
    • Common diagnosis codes used: atherosclerosis of the aorta, PVD, MI.
       
  • If no moderate to high intensity statin is found on the active med list, this clickable "Review ASCVD Excl" link will appear on the Assessment MG template.

When you see this alert, click the wording to “Review ASCVD excl” to review the diagnosis options. This is required you can continue.

  • You can click on the blue info button to see the details about the measure criteria.

The below screen appears, select any that apply. 

Please click "Save & Close" to ensure check box that the exclusions were reviewed gets checked.

  • Note - “Declined By Patient / Patient's Family”  was added to reduce alert fatigue if the question has been addressed and charted. 
    • Using this diagnosis does not exclude patient from the quality measure.
