How to Send Results Through Patient Portal

Patient results (labs, radiology, et Cetera) can be sent from the patients chart to their Patient Portal account. In this Quick Reference Guide, we will explain how providers can send patient results through Patient Portal from the Orders Module and PAQ (Provider Approval Queue).

NOTE: Patient must be completely enrolled in Patient Portal for your practice. (See image below)

Sending Results from Orders Module

NOTE: Only lab results can be sent from the Orders Module to the Patient Portal.

To send results from the Orders Module. Click the modules icon (located at bottom of Patient History Panel).

Click the Orders Summary tab then perform the following steps:

  1. Select desired order from Orders grid.
  2. Click to expand Results panel.

NOTE: Results must be Signed-off by provider before attempting to send through Patient Portal. If not done, click the Sign-off button to perform this task (See image below).

Click the Patient Portal button on Results panel toolbar, then perform the following:

  1. Enter Portal comment(s).
  2. Click Send

A notification of your successfully exported document to Patient Portal now displays (The image below is for representation purposes only).

Sending Results from PAQ

When sending any results from the Provider Approval Queue (PAQ):

  1. Select the desired result from the PAQ Pending list.
  2. Click the Sign-off with Actions button.

Several actions can be performed using the Sign-off with Actions window. However, for the scope of this class:

  1. Choose the Send To Patient Portal check box.
  2. Click the Run Actions button.

NOTE that this action can be saved for future use by using the following options: Save Action, and Save & Run Actions.

In the Patient Portal Document Export window:

  1. Enter Portal Comments.
  2. Click Send.

The Document was successfully exported to Patient Portal window appears
(See image below).

One Final Note

All lab results must be signed off by the provider to appear in the patients Patient Portal Results field(s).
